First flight of the Voliris V901C prototype
Video of the first flight of the VOLIRIS V901C prototype realized on July 2012. This prototype is designed to validate the concept of wing shell which is a flying architecture halfway between the wing of an airplane and the envelope of an airship. Such airship are named hybrid. Hybrid airships use both the aerostatic lift, i.e. due to the lifting gas, and the aerodynamic lift, due to the shape of the wing. This prototype foreshadows an automatic airship capable to lift containers up to 32 tonnes.
